My sixth year

This will be my sixth year in a row competing in the Rat Race. After all these years I've given up on becoming a real comp pilot, but this event is just too fun to miss, and I always sign up to compete in hopes that I'll finally put the pieces together and make it to goal. For the first time I've convinced my family to tag along! Several other pilots from Hawaii are signed up to compete as well: Nick and JK from Oahu, and Marty, Rick, Paul and Mark from Maui. And there is also a good sized gaggle of monkeys coming along to help out and do some fun flying: Pete, Travis, Scrappy, Andrew, Thom, Kaaawa Larry, Gary, and possibly Harvey and Carlos. I'm really looking forward to some fun thermal and XC flying. The best part is that this year they are featuring a dual format, with separate tasks each day for the hard core racers and for the less hard core. The kiddie pool section of this year's dual format will allow perennial flying chickens like me a fighting chance to squawk into goal. Stay tuned to this blog for reports of our adventures. Hopefully we'll get lots of pictures and video to share as well.

  1. Thanks for getting this started Alex. I will try to document the adventures here as well.
